After saying it would be delivered in 60-90 mins (which is long enough), they delivered it 2 hours 10 mins. Worse - when I asked Eat24 where it was - they told me the driver was 'on his way'. By the time my huevos rancheros finally arrived they were cold, and I don't think they would have been all that great even hot. They were out of fake chicken for my salad, and substituted with real chicken (with my approval). They forgot to put the dressing on the salad. Why do I even bother ordering here?? My roomies hate the place and think I'm crazy when I do. It's the desserts, those shakes are good.. But the food is typically cold and often times gross. My roommate and I are recovering from being sicky sicky sicky and we wanted soup bad. After calling several restaurants to find out their soup of the day we settled on Sparky's, since theirs was chicken vegetable. We decided to split a large order of soup and each ordered a sandwich to go with it. There were specific instructions on the burger (no vegetables, just mayo, bacon, cheese, and ketchup) and nothing specific on the BLT. The estimated delivery time was 45-an hour. After an hour and fifteen minutes we used the Eat24 line to check on our order. The restaurant said it would be there in 5-7 minutes. 20 minutes after that we used the line again. They said the driver was on the block, so we went downstairs to wait. When we finally got our order it was 2 hours after the order was placed. Unacceptable. Well, hopefully the food is good, right? It was all a temperature between cold and lukewarm. The large order of soup came in a to-go coffee cup with the lid taped down. It was the equivalent of a Starbucks Tall cup. How small is the small order of soup then? Neither sandwich came with fries, which is disappointing for a $8 diner burger. The BLT was smashed to bits, and completely soaked in brine from the huge stack of pickles in the to-go box with it. (I hate pickles. With a passion. I would never think to say "no pickles" with a BLT as it is named after THE INGREDIENTS.) I ate the lukewarm soup, which was ridiculously salty, and picked the bacon out of my destroyed sandwich. My roommate's burger was charred (he ordered it "medium well") and had all the vegetables on it, making everything quite soggy, and no mayo. Overall not a single thing was done right. I can't even begin to describe what a bad experience it was. And after forcing us to wait two hours to get our slop there's no way to replace the food with something else. Worst restaurant. We ordered burgers, which were $7-8 each and did NOT come with fries. They were fairly small, not particularly warm or tasty, and the buns were not toasted. A side of fries was $3.50 and was pitifully small. This was not $20 worth of food. I placed this order late at night and wrote specifically that the delivery guy should NOT ring my buzzer because my roommate was sleeping, and they rang it anyways without calling me. Ordered the Belgian waffles which was supposed to come with bananas, strawberries, powdered sugar and whipped cream... BUT they arrived with only bananas. And a bit stale as though they'd been left out for a while. Also ordered the hash browns and requested no carrots but with onions, instead came with carrots and no onions. A bit of a Jekyll and Hyde predicament. I ordered a burger and fries, and that was fine. My wife ordered the Turkey dinner and it was completely inedible. The turkey was hockey puck hard on the edges and the mashed potatoes had no butter, salt, or gravy. Literally dry mashed potatoes. these people ALWAYS get the order wrong somehow. It never fails! Even if you wait months and months, when there would most likely be a significant change in the people working there, they screw the order up somehow, dont really apologize, just make excuses. In one instance I paid cash, they didnt deliver a juice and wanted me to just eat the cost. I ordered the chicken parmesan dinner. The chicken was so badly burned that it was literally black and crunchy. And yet, their idiot cook just slapped a slice of cheese over it and sent it to me. A complete lack of pride in their work, and absolutely no quality control. I would complain, but they never care, the last time I complained they hung up on me. So, why do I keep ordering from them? The food is just ok, but what really sucks about this place is the delivery - I ordered twice from this place. The first time took 1h 30 minutes for them to deliver the food. The second time I lost my patience after 1h waiting and, upon calling them to check where the hell my food was, I learned that my order was just sitting there, and they had not even started to make the food. The girl who picked up the phone said 'Oh yeah, we have even super busy, I didn't even see this here' and had the audacity to say 'it would take another hour' for the delivery. Ridiculous. Ordered the "superb burger," curly fries, an italian soda with almond flavoring, and the bread pudding. Burger was unedible, had the smell of soured veggies, and the top bun was hard/stale.. no not cooked hard, stale, on the verge of mold hard. I never receieved my curly fries; the bread pudding was more of a rubbery square with melted ice cream, and the italian soda had no flavoring/syrup at all. Very bad service. I was very specific in my order that I wanted sugar in my tea if it wasn't sweetened and then it was not sweetened, I asked for mayo on my burger and there was none. There were no utensils and I ordered ice cream which was hard. The burger was cold and hard, and with my order I told them exact directions and that I was at work and could not come to the other side of the building where people usually want to drop off orders. This place takes a bit long for delivery sometimes, and sometimes its super quick. But I usually order super late and get the eggs benny, they hit the spot!! So this was the worst Sparky's experience! I ordered the BBQ Pork ribs, The gave me three pieces of very fatty ,eat and more bones then actual meat. I wouldn't even feed this to my dog. On top of that I ordered some desserts, the bananna split and the mixed berry pie. The bananna split was melted still edible however the Pie tasted stale and the crust was hard. Item was missing from my order. I called, and was told that my item was still at the restaurant and would be going out on the next delivery run. Called 2 hours later, new person on shift. Was very unhelpful - "It's not here. Sometimes things get delivered to the wrong place." After some pressure, he agreed to credit my credit card for the amount of the item that was missing. The worst part was that the staff never made an attempt to apologize for being so late. I don't understand why everyone is complaining about the delivery time. It made me worry at first. I just assumed I wouldn't receive my food and I figured I shouldn't be eating this late anyways. But to my surprise it came within 20 minutes! It actually scared the crap out of me when when I heard the door bell! Nothing was wrong with the food. I wasn't missing any of my order or anything. I read the reviews after ordering, so I was afraid that my food was never going to arrive. Luckily, my food came relatively fast (30 mins), but the quality of food was so-so. I ordered the fish and chips. The fries were fine, but the fish itself smelled funny and was inedible. It literally smelled like sh*t and it made me gag. Don't order the Fish and Chips. I guess I cant comment on the food since I never received it. The driver was too lazy to come up to my hotel room. He called me from out front and asked me to come down. After searching for him I called the restaurant who said they would turn him around if I would stand outside in the cold and wait. I now consider Sparkys my "I need a miracle" of online ordering. I ordered a "The Works" burger, and was pleasantly surprised at their above average rendering of an all to common standard. The meat itself was thick and still warm unpon arrival, with the extras as advertised and the requiste condiments amply represented. I ordered my burger "medium well" and that is exactly how it was cooked. The fries were appearantly of the Texas size variety, being generous in both portion and size. Delivery was also surprisingly quick. I'll admit to having major trepidations about ordering a burger & fries online, but Sparkys put all my fears to rest. It's hard for me to understand the compaints I've read, I've ordered from Sparky's maybe twenty times and had nothing but great experiences. I live two miles away, so everything needs 60 seconds in the microwave, but that's to be expected. I'm impressed that they will drive this far, Sutter and Hyde is a long way from Church and Market. As to the food, it's been consistently good, sometimes great. I've been all over the large menu, from french toast and eggs to burgers with green chiles to fettucine pesto to chicken parmesan, and every one hit the mark. Follow up to my previous review written before I actually tasted the food...the food was decent. Tuna sandwich - bread was a little soggy, otherwise excellent flavor. The fries the sandwich came with were cold but a quick blast in the microwave and they were quite tasty. Chili was pretty good. Quesadilla was much like one you would get from a non-mexican restaurant...so it was ok, certainly not great but not bad for an off hour delivery. Lastly the mac and cheese, as previously mentioned, completely lacked flavor. I threw it away after one spoonful. All in all...food was decent. I will order from them again. First time writing a review. Haven't even tried the food yet...Will write again it is great or awful. Order made at 2235 on thursday. driver called at 2319 to tell me he was in the lobby. I asked him to come up (some 20 plus floors via elevator) and deliver my food. He did. I met him at the elevator. The first thing I did was give him a $5 tip for a $20 dollar order. He didn't say thank you. I signed the receipt and I then went through my order with him because many other's past orders appear to have be wrong based on the reviews. I didn't open the boxes but things appeared correct. I told the driver thank you and he left. He never said thank you to me or even cracked a smile. He looked like he was angry with me. I thought a $5 cash tip to someone who obviously wanted me to come down to the lobby was generous. Apparently, I should tip more. With the exception of one indian restaurant all other places have delivered right to my door no questions asked. BTW, I put a big note in my order asking them to call to confirm receipt of the order...with my number. This note was clearly written out on the receipt...but they never called to confirm. I'm staying in the city for 3 months in a hotel without 24 hr room service, and so I have to order take-out a lot. I've ordered from Sparky's 2 or 3 times now and have to say that I will not be ordering from them again. While they have great delivery hours and a huge menu, their service and food quality sucks! They always take longer to deliver than they say they will, the food portions are small ($10.85 for a 5-6" chicken sandwich that is soggy, with onion rings as limp as noodles, and all of it shoved into a tiny little container), and then tonight they totally forgot half my order. When I called back, I was immediately put on hold and left for several minutes, so I called back and asked to speak to the manager, once again I was left on hold for several minutes, so I called back a third time and demanded to speak to the manager. It turns out that the guy, Paolo, that was answering the phone this whole time was the manager! When I complained about the forgotten items and soggy food, he didn't even apologize, just made an excuse that they were busy. They may be one of the few places open truly late for delivery, but unless you're totally wasted, I would go out and get something somewhere else rather than calling Sparky's for delivery! i'm fairly certain that you have to be stoned to work at this place. i've ordered from them twice, the first time the cheese sticks were missing but we were drunk and it was the middle of the night so we just ignored it. this time we ordered and the curly fries were missing. i called to report, and the guy signed and put me on hold for five minutes. so i called back and we just sat there him breathing heavy and sighing, but neither of us saying anything for several minutes when he finally said "i'll send some more, bye" and hung up. really weird experience. plus the food sucks. the pizza is both soggy and burnt, the fries are covered in grease and come in one big lump, the chicken tenders are just a sliced up deep fried chicken breast, but no batter or anything. never again Posted by Devo on 03/13/2010

-Ordered once pretty early 3am or so/ i work the night shift. I was truly disappointing, i had the Gnocchi pasta that couldn't have pasted for acceptable from any restaurant. It was overly soggy/bland and mushy like dough i don't know how you mess up pasta..but they did. Poor delivery times, Poor food quality, only acceptable if your really smashed. ok, im a regular customer same order 2 peanut butter cup shakes, caramel shake, choclate cake, 20 times in past 2 months. still waiting for order and staff said we didnt answer phone, and gave wrong room number. we denied it all, checked our messages on cell only 1 call from them, it was our call to them, and nothing else. after discovering our correctness, checked the original order we called and talked to driver that was probably just covering so boss would not catch him slacking. driver was nice, re making our great shakes, and he would bee here shortly. if you dont see any further comments, were slurping the only shakes known to be delivered worldwide right here in san francisco. at 2 am nonetheless. I haven't ordered from Sparky's since my original review. I decided to try Sparky's again due to all the Bad reviews--insane right? Not so much. I ordered three times. First order was at 2:45 a.m. The order arrive 45 minutes later. They forgot bacon on my breakfast order but everything else was hot and delicious. The overpriced my chai shake was amazing. The next order was placed at 10:15 the following night--chicken club w/ fries, chicken fritters, turkey club w/ fries. The order arrived in 29 minutes. They didn't forget anything this time and the food was equally hot and delicious. The last order I placed yesterday at 7:33 p.m. The order arrived in 43 minutes, hot and delicious. No complaints here. I think the primary issue is a combination of high pricing and bad timing of ordering during traffic/lunch rush etc. For those of you who order during off hours and are willing to fork over the cash, I think it is pretty worth it :) Posted by Johnson on 10/24/2009

My daughters eggs where not scrambled. They where sunny side up. I hadn't made that order. I put the details of the way I wanted my eggs. Her french toast was coated with cheese at some edges. Not crispy enough. Maybe it was just the steam. My order was damn near perfect; except it had a wierd after taste to the eggs and the soysausage. Like as if there was a counter top with a little bit of bacteria or dirty sponge used to clean the dishes. I had blueberry pancakes that tasted great. Need to add more butter and low calorie syrup. Wait now low calorie syrup was available. Someone please tell me. Anyway I have ordered from this resturant in the past and had little minor problems with it. Overall ok order. I ordered a peanut butter and chocolate because there was no just chocolate, and I asked that it be with banana not peanut butter. They sent peanut butter, no banana. Do not, under any circumstances what-so-ever, order delivery from sparky's. they take forever to get to you and the food is okay, if that. if you do order from sparky's, prepare for lukewarm food, 1.5-2 hours in delivery, and only fair quality. also expect to be yelled at on the phone if you call to check on your order, and expect the delivery driver to have a hard time finding your place. besides all that, i give these guys a great reveiw. -j Posted by Joshua on 07/19/2009

Delivery wasnt as long as people say, they called me several times with follow up questions and to asure me that the food was comming. Too bad their food doesnt match their service, burger was nasty, salad was nasty, fries were ok. If high quality food is what you crave you might want to stay away from Spaky's. Food finally arrived 1 hour and 45 minutes later. Food was cold, stale, stuffed into coffee cups and taped shut. "Fresh fruit" consisted of room temperature old brown banana slices and week old grapes. Bag had food spilled all over the inside of it. The driver forgot the receipt and has to come back later (guess I'll be sticking around). Overall just a bad experience. Thanks "Sparkys"! Sparky's is an institution. But I will have a hard time ordering from them again, or even eating in their restaurant after this delivery experience. I submitted a debit card payment, and the driver would not take anything but a CA ID card to verify. Even though I had my picture on my card, and my passport! And this is after being 30 minutes late. The last experience I had with sparky's was that they had I've charged me. When I had called to nformed they that they had over charged me the manager wasn't understanding and really wasn't trying to give me my money back;at this point it wasn't about the money it was the principle. Well anyways I triednto give them another chance last night but again it was aweful. This time they charged us the corrected amount but our food didn't come for an hour and a half. We even tried to call and see what was going on but no one answered the phone in which it rang for over a minute. We had pretty much given up on the food and decided that they weren't coming. We are all about to go to sleep and outdoor bell rings. The food arrived finally but we didn't really want it anymore. The worse part is the food was cold and nasty that our food and money had gone to waste. I can understand that a company is busy but there is no reason delivery should take over a hour and to not inform their customers or even answering the phone. It really doesn't make sense to me that a business has such bad service. I will never order from them again unless they are my last option and I'm really hungry but even then I still might not order from them since my food probably won't arrive. I usually order 3-4 times from a given restaurant before giving a review. However, I felt one order from Sparky's was enough. I ordered the chicken fritters, fries, bacon cheeseburger, and the Seattle omelet. The fritters seemed to me a hodgepodge of reject chicken parts, deep fried. Pretty tasty nonetheless. The omelet was pretty good, I am definitely going for egg whites only next, hopefully they will follow my directions. Bacon cheeseburger was solid.
