I'm consistently disappointed at Morty's contempt for their customers. They ignore every direction I give them and their chopped salad isn't chopped. Also, they use salad mix, NOT FRESH. In other words, you are taking your chances when you order from Morty's. Why bother ordering here when they ignore what you say? They certainly have no problem charging premium prices. I wouldn't mind paying those prices if the product and the customer service was worth it and in Morty's case, neither is. With this terrible attitude towards those of us who pay their bills, it's a wonder they are still in business. Posted by Paul on 04/10/2012

I put in some very specific instructions about their so-called "Chopped Salad." This was the second time I ordered it. The first time, the salad wasn't chopped at all. It was a Cobb salad, which is NOT what I ordered. The second time I ordered it, I put in VERY specific directions to CHOP THE SALAD. It was ignored, as were the request for napkins and paper plates. Not only was the salad not chopped, the lettuce was old, wilted and beginning to turn. it's obvious that they pre-make the salads and refrigerate. It's not fresh and that's not good. They open their customers up to potential food poisoning by serving turned food. This isn't "Haute Gout" after all. It's deli. The main thing about Deli is FRESHNESS. Of course. I think that ignoring your customers requests is a sign of disdain and shows contempt for those of us who are paying them to serve us. After all, we ONLY go to restaurants to be served. So what are we paying for when a restaurant ignores our requests? I'm saddened by this. It's restaurant 101. Freshness and flexibility to accommodate are part and parcel of any dining experience, so why are they being ignored by Morty's? Asking for my chopped salad to be chopped is bad enough, to have that ignored is just an embarrassment. I'm surprised EAT24 Hours would allow for this, knowing how good their customer service is. despite the fact that they ALWAYS manage to forget something, the food is fast, tastes fresh and satisfies me every time. PLUS the sandwiches hold up the test of time... they still taste great after a night in the fridge. The salads are huge, too! Posted by Liz on 01/08/2012

I've been in the industry for over 20 years, consider myself a bit of a foodie, and am happy to report that Morty's is the best meal I have ordered from this website to date. My turkey club sandwich was fresh and full of flavor, and I would have gladly eaten another of their ceasar salads for dinner, if given the chance. I ordered a cheeseburger with cheddar, the 3 pc.Reuben Rolls-Fried Egg Rolls with Pastrami, Swiss Cheese and Sauerkraut with Russian Dressing, and the chili. Amazing! The food - we ordered Reuben Rolls, BBQ Burger and a Po'Boy sandwich - all were extremely flavorful and served hot and fresh (which is a minor miracle considering we messed up the delivery info really bad - don't ask). The people - even more amazing! Considering we messed up the delivery info as mentioned, they still managed to find us and be extremely considerate and accommodating. Hands down - this was some of the best delivered food I have ever eaten. Bacon cheeseburger (photo included) - High quality meat, bacon, and cheese served on a very good onion roll. The veggies were all fresh. and the mustard on the burger matched perfectly. Pop's Classic Sandwich (Roast beef, turkey, sharp cheddar, lettuce, tomato and mayo - photo included). Big sandwich with fresh tasty ingredients served on your choice of breads. The fries and onion rings were also good. I have not eaten the brownie yet.:) Everything was also packed well to insure the food was as good when I received it as it was when it was packed up. Additional Note #1 - On a future order, I had chili with cheese. This was a very good chili with large chunks of meat. Great for a cool winter's day. (photo included) Additional Note #2 - I have also tried the Dirty Bird (grilled oven roasted turkey, black forest ham, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and deli grain mustard. served on a toasted sourdough sub roll) (photo included) - it was an excellent sandwich. I had the bacon cheese burger and it rocked. One of the better burgers I have had in quite a while. Delivery time was pretty good too. Definitely a little pricey which will stop me from order from here very often but if you don't mind the price, I imagine it is tough to get a burger this good anywhere else. Being a stranger to San Francisco I was happy to find Morty's. They have free delivery and their food is amazing. They had a great menu, and recently updated it to include some amazing tasty but kind to your tummy choices. The Tender burger is just that, tender but spicy and delicious. While I like their food, I can't recommend these people. Here's the latest...I order my food, and half an hour later I get a call, your food is downstairs but your door buzzer doesn't work. I go downstairs, no one. I look around the neighborhood, no one. I go back upstairs and call the number, and it turns out the guy is trying to deliver my food to the wrong address. Despite it being printed on his slip, I give him my address again. Twenty minutes later, the phone rings again, he's here. I go down to the door and see a guy with a bike and my food. I ask him if he went back to get me fresh food, or if it's been sitting congealing in his bag for the twenty minutes. He tells me it's not fresh, I tell him that I'm not interested in eating catfish and french fries that left the restaurant half an hour ago. I call Morty's to ask for a fresh order, and the guy on the phone says how come you didn't try the food? I said excuse me, but there's no possible scenario where I'm interested in eating fried fish and potatoes that have sat for half an hour. He wouldn't let it go...instead of saying of course, sorry for the inconvenience, he wanted to argue with me about why I didn't want to try his cold congealed fried fish. Sorry, Morty's, you blew it. The owner has personally taken care of us due to a little mishap on a very busy night. That deserves thumbs up in our book! We are looking forward to trying them again and then will be able to talk about the food. Just wanted all to know that the owner takes his customers seriously and that is a big gold star! There aren't too many sandwich places that I endorse, but these guys are one of the few. I just discovered them, and their sandwiches are huge, hot, and flavorful. The bread isn't 'homemade,' but the meatballs taste like they are, and the fish is fresh tasting. Their fries stay hot (mostly) and they have both regular and sweet potato (and they aren't even soggy!) as well as a great classic style slaw. I keep coming back for the freshness, but are continually dazzled by the... fried mac-n-cheese balls with marinara sauce... Oh My God! SO GOOD!!!!! The order arrived exactly 90 minutes after ordering (30 minutes beyond the 45-60 minute expectation). The food was VERY tasty, but was only warm, not hot. The delivery fellow (Jessie, I think he said) was clean, friendly, very attractive, and appropriately apologetic for the lengthy delivery time ... all of which mitigated my disappointment. I was a bit skeptical having ordered online many times since coming to SF. However Morty's was a sincerely delightful surprise. The food was excellent and I truly enjoyed having a real chicken breast on my sandwich instead of that processed stuff. The onions rings were delicious, the salad crisp and flavorful while the delivery was prompt and cheerful. What more could you ask? Well maybe a black and white cookie!
